So last week was kind of a tricky one. I got to use my Nintendo Wii (and Super Smash Brothers Brawl) as a nice distraction from everything that's been going on, and while a lot of you won't seem to believe it, it's sort of helped me come to some conclusions.

Like.. I find some of the strangest things to complain about. Like the fact that I have a job that pays me just about as much as anybody else I've probably graduated with, and I get to stay home and play Smash Brothers while doing it, which pretty much needs to be considered the best gig in the universe next to getting totally free money. Even so, I'm not a big fan of the situation and I'm worried that I'll get too used to this situation and lose any sense of ambition.

Meanwhile, I have my tutoring job, which is going swimmingly. I like it a whole lot, and as I'm here longer and teach more sessions, perhaps one day I can step up the hours and perhaps do something like this full time.

I'm also working towards getting my certification taken care of and getting myself a job in a classroom, but I have to be prepared for the chance that it might not happen. I can't put all my eggs in one basket.

But the other day I was thinking about a few things...

like Sister Act 2, when Whoopie Goldbergs character talks about some book she read and says something like "if you wake up every morning thinking about writing, then you are a writer" (and then she applied that to Singing for Lauren Hill.

BUt.. thinking about that quote, writing is something I think about all the time, and it is something that I should really take more seriously. If you read the interviews of professional authors, they set up time to write every single day, while I only do it now and then.... so.. I'm going to take it more seriously and I'm going to finish my kidnapping book as soon as possible.. and I'm trying to think of the best way to put together a 'scheduled' writing time for each day.

Meanwhile.. i've finished the kidnapping book's 13th chapter. The plan is one chapter a day until its done. The total number of planned chapters is changing. it started at about thirty, and i moved it up more towards 40..but it will be as long as it needs to be.

Even if Hardcase doesn't pick it up... somebody ought to. This thing is coming together really nicely. I'm proud of it so far, it puts what I did with the bicycle book to shame!
